My primary research interests focus on French and Francophone Studies, Theory and Cultural Studies.

 

I concentrate on Post-Colonial Studies, Women's and Gender Studies, Literatures of the African Diaspora, Geohumanities, Performance Studies, and Film Studies.

 

My secondary research interests evolve around (French) Second Language Acquisition with a focus on communicative and cultural approaches, and technology for education.

Dr. Gladys M. Francis is a native of Guadeloupe. As Associate Professor of Africana, Francophone, Theory and Cultural Studies at Georgia State University, she devotes her time to research, teaching, and (public) service.

She serves as the Director of Graduate Studies and as the Director of the French & Francophone Program in the Department of World Languages and Cultures.

She served as the Inaugural Director of the Africana Studies Center and as the Director the South Atlantic Center in the College of Arts and Sciences.

Dr. Francis is an Executive Editorial Board Member and Academic Advisor of the Serendipity’s Publication Department (De Montfort University in the United Kingdom).

As the Director of the South Atlantic Center, I coordinated programs, produced and promoted research in the Humanities and Social Sciences between scholars, activists, and artists based in Europe, the southeastern region of the United States, the Caribbean, and South America.
